Beyonce's rep ripped critics who said the songstress' body was looking a bit too bootylicious these days -- and blamed the singer's curvaceous appearance on a dress that accentuated her hips.
"This is not a weight-gain issue," her rep told Usmagazine.com. "Beyonce is in the best shape of her life."
The weight-gain whisper campaign was started by a photograph of Beyonce appearing in New York on March 8. The songstress wore a floor-length, shimmery Thierry Mugler couture dress that had padded hips reminiscent of Elizabethan-style gowns for her I ... Am tour.

"The exaggerated hips are a design element of a truly couture dress," the rep told the magazine. "Beyonce has always loved the dress."
The waist on the dress -- originally designed for Jerry Hall -- had to be taken in for Beyonce, from 23 inches to 19, her rep said.
The gown was designed with the Elizabethan era in mind -- designed with corsetry and pads stitched underneath the dress to accentuate the body's curves to larger-than-life proportions, the Daily Mail reported.
Mugler, a Parisian couturier, will design a 58-piece the wardrobe for her tour.
A representative for Mugler defended the design of Beyonce's dress.
"The padded hips intentionally focus attention to the waist."
