Before LeBron James was hailed as a king, he was just one of five teenagers with the big dream of winning his high school's basketball state championship. Now this incredible seven-year journey -- which started in a school gym in Akron, Ohio -- has hit the big screen.
"More Than a Game" is premiering tonight as the opening documentary at the SILVERDOCS Documentary Festival. LeBron James, along with his high school basketball coach and former teammates, was in attendance.
The Montgomery Blair High School pep band performed before the showing. After, the filmaker and subjects held a discussion, and hip-hop artist/D.C. native Wale and independent artist Tabi Bonney performed at the post-screening gala.
"More Than a Game" will be released in theaters Oct. 2, 2009.
Monday was just the kickoff of the SILVERDOCS festival, held at the AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD). For more information about ticket sales and the film schedule, visit the SILVERDOCS Web site.
