10. The Day After Tomorrow
2004's disaster blockbuster, "The Day After Tomorrow," definitely gave its audience chills… But it was the effect of climate change and global warming that had one of the stars thinking about the film afterwards. According to Jake Gyllenhaal, who acted in the movie, "I think what this movie does is kind of show you the effects of that kind of attitude, and what could happen."

9. The American President
In this 1995 film, Michael Douglas portrays widowed Democratic president Andrew Shepherd who falls for environmental lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade, played by Annette Bening. With re-election nearing, Sydney attempts to persuade the president to pass legislation committing his administration to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

8. Soylent Green
The 1973 Charlton Heston Sci-Fi classic "Soylent Green" portrays a disturbing dystopia. With overcrowding, pollution, and depleted resources, the futures leaders team up to find alternative food sources. Their answer is an artificial product in which the actual ingredient is… people!

7. March of the Penguins
The continuation of a species has never been more heartfelt. The 2005 Oscar winner for best documentary shows us the journey of the Emperor Penguin in Antarctica. Through sub-zero temperatures and heavy winds, the penguins travel for months over 70 miles for courtship, breeding, and egg tending.

6. Who Killed the Electric Car?
With the escalating issues of global warming, pollution, and rising gas prices, this 2006 documentary dissects the decline of the electric car program. It explores who's to blame, for what could be considered one of biggest blunders in environmental and automotive history.

5. Erin Brockovich
Julia Roberts won the 2000 Oscar for her portrayal of a legal assistant who takes it upon herself to fight powerful corporate forces. Based on a true story, Erin Brockovich uses her wit and sex appeal to uncover a California power company accused of polluting a city's water supply.

4. Gorillas In The Mist
The 1988 biopic of anthropologist Dian Fossey, played by Sigourney Weaver, depicts her extensive work and love of the mountain gorillas of Rwanda. Her work has proven to be effective with the stabilization and growth of the endangered great apes.

3. Silent Running
The 1971 ecologically themed Sci-Fi film "Silent Running" gives us the glimpse of a future where all plant life is extinct from nuclear war. A space crew harbors Earth's last nature reserve in their bio-dome spaceship, but when orders come to destroy the dome, the ship's botanist, played by Bruce Dern, sends the dome into deep space to save the last remaining plants.

2. WALL-E
Pixar's 2008 animated creation "WALL-E" introduces us to a lovable robot whose name stands for "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class." WALL-E is programmed to clean the uninhabitable wasteland that Earth has become after humans have trashed the planet. And who could resist WALL-E's lovable charm, and his love affair with fellow robot, Eva?

1. An Inconvenient Truth
With the 2006 documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" Al Gore tackled the serious effects of global warming. Al's new green proposal to have 100 percent of America's electricity come from renewable energy and carbon free sources is achievable within ten years. It won the former Vice President an Oscar.
