Montgomery Farm Women's Cooperative Market Turns 80

If you've never been to the Montgomery Farm Women's Cooperative Market, we're gonna have to ask you why.

After all, you've had 80 years to make it there.

The popular market its celebrating its 8th decade of service this weekend, but otherwise it's just business as usual for the sprawling indoor/outdoor market.

Shop for a variety of baked goods and fresh produce, as well as a flea market offering jewelry, antique home furnishings, art and more. The indoor market is open daily (7 a.m.-4 p.m.), with the outdoor market open Wednesday through Sunday (7 a.m.-5 p.m.) when the weather is good.

Although the Farm Women's Co-op (7155 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda) is successful now, it was born of the Depression. A group of farm women facing the hardships of the 1930s launched the market to sell produce to the District and its surrounding suburbs.

Now thousands visit the market every week to explore merch from 75+ vendors, which means you’ll never get tired of browsing for endless supplies of hearty food.
