Karen Porter became NBC4’s first snow stick challenge winner of 2025 as she celebrated her birthday.

Snow days in the D.C. area come with a lot of traditions, and our favorite is breaking out the Pat Collins Snow Stick.

While our dear, former reporter Pat Collins lives it up in retirement, we grabbed our Snow Stick to measure Monday's winter storm, which brought 6 to 10 inches of snow to the D.C. area.

We also awarded one snow stick to Karen Porter, who correctly guessed when the first inch of snow would fall at Reagan National Airport this year.

Karen Porter became NBC4's first snow stick challenge winner of 2025 as she celebrated her birthday.

But there's a chance to win another for yourself! Join the Pat Collins Snow Stick challenge.

It’s simple: We pick a theme to inspire your creativity, and you share a picture or video. We’ll pick an MVP and none other than Tommy McFly will hand over a Pat Collins Snow Stick.

This year’s theme? Victory Monday!

It’s a blizzard of buzz for the Washington Commanders – going to the playoffs with the best record since the 1990s is no little flurry!
