A new exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum will feature photographs of Elliott Erwitt's most memorable mutt mugs, spanning decades.
Elliott Erwitt: Dog Dogs will showcase 65 photos taken between 1946 and 2004. Erwitt says he got his best shots when he would bark at dogs to get their attention. It's one thing to use the word "treat," but barking is something only the pros know.
About the photographer: Erwitt immigrated to the U.S. in 1939, and eventually studied photography at Los Angeles City College. Dogs have always been a focal point for him, so much so that he's published four books about them, "Son of Bitch" (1974), "Dog Dogs" (1998), "Woof" (2005) and "Elliott Erwitt's Dogs" (2008).
The Dog Dogs exhibit will run March 7 to May 24 at the Delaware Art Museum (2301 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington, Delaware), about two and a half hours from downtown D.C. Admission is $12 for adults, and $6 for kids.
