Virginia’s secretary of technology unveiled a revamped state government website Monday.
“Technology is a very important component of Governor [Bob] McDonnell’s administration and is essential for a transparent and ‘citizen-centric’ government,” Jim Duffey said. “Virginia.gov is the main portal to Virginia government. It is key that citizens are able to engage the commonwealth at any time and from any place. The new Virginia.gov offers both improved citizen services and a more efficient delivery of service.”
The new design features:
- A larger presence of social media products
- A more robust search capability and improved listing and search capability for state online services
- An enhanced mapping capability, including the capability to detect a user’s physical location and automatically display the corresponding area on the base map – a technology known as GeoIP
- A new mobile application
