The Redskins' troubled nose tackle Albert Haynesworth made a quick trip to the Reston Police station Saturday morning.
Haynesworth, accompanied by his lawyer, was charged with assault, stemming from an incident on February 2 in which a man said the football player hit him while he was sitting in his car. Haynesworth, 29, signed a summons releasable warrant, charging him with assault, and then departed the police station.
Joel Velasquez, 38, said he was victim of a road rage incident involving Haynewsorth on Route 7100 in Fairfax County.
Velasquez told ESPN.com that on February 2, he gave the finger to a pickup truck that was tailgating him. At a stoplight, the driver of the truck got out of his vehicle. Velasquez said the driver was Haynesworth. He said that when he rolled down his window, the nose tackle, who is listed at 335 pounds, said "you're not so tough now," and then punched him in the face.
Haynesworth is due in Fairfax County Criminal Court at 9:30 a.m. on March 31.
