A 63-year-old woman was stabbed in the parking lot of a mall in Gaithersburg, Maryland on Thursday after she refused to give the attacker money, police said.
The woman was walking from the Macy's store at the Lakeforest Mall to her car about 1:30 p.m. Thursday when a man approached her, Montgomery County police said. The man asked for cash, but the woman refused.
The would-be thief then pushed the woman into her car, stabbed her several times and fled.
The victim was taken to a hospital with non-threatening injuries, treated and released, police said.
No one has been arrested. Police described the attacker as a Hispanic man who stands 5-foot-5 and weighs between 150 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt.
