A Hampton, Va., woman who fabricated a sexual assault that led to the conviction of an innocent man is due in court for sentencing.
Elizabeth Coast pleaded guilty to perjury in May. She's scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Hampton Circuit Court. The maximum term is 10 years.
Coast had claimed that Johnathan Montgomery molested her in 2000 when he was 14 and she was 10. Montgomery was convicted and sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.
Coast recanted her story last year. She said her parents caught her looking at pornography in 2007, so she made up a story of prior sexual abuse to explain her behavior.
Montgomery has been freed from prison and is seeking a writ of actual innocence, which is on hold until Coast's case is concluded.
