A VDOT contract worker was killed when a dump truck struck him in Loudoun County.
Just before 6 a.m., Geovany Guevara pulled his truck onto the right shoulder of Belmont Ridge Road at the intersection of Chesterton Street in Ashburn. According to Virginia State Police, he was standing at the rear of the truck when he was struck by another VDOT dump truck.
Guevara was transported to Loudoun Hospital Center, where he died from his injuries.
The second driver was not injured and was not on the roads Friday.
Guevara's family said they don't blame anyone because it was an accident.
While the cause of the crash is not known at this time, road conditions in the D.C. area have been treacherous because of the heavy snowfall.
Guevara's uncle Felipe Guevara said this winter was Geovany Guevara's second driving a plow. He enjoyed it, but his family worried about the danger.
