A bus carrying a group of teenage tourists from Wisconsin caught fire Tuesday afternoon in Northwest D.C.
All 34 passengers and two staff members managed to get off the bus unharmed, a D.C. Fire and & EMS representative said.
The fire sparked at Rhode Island Avenue and 6th Street NW shortly after the driver picked up the tourists, the fire department said. The engine compartment of the bus was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Video from DCFEMS shows flames shooting out of the top of the vehicle.
The tourists' luggage was unharmed. The group boarded another bus and continued their trip, the fire department said.
