TSA Finds 13 Knives in Carry-on Luggage at BWI

Transportation Security Administration officers often find knives and guns at airport checkpoints, but the number of weapons found in some carry-on luggage at Thurgood Marshall Baltimore-Washington International Airport last week was unusual.

The TSA said officers operating an X-ray machine noticed something suspicious in a man's luggage.

A search turned up 13 knives, including switchblades and a butterfly knife.

Amr Gamal Shedid, 25, of Baltimore, Md., was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, interfering with security procedures and having an unauthorized weapon in an airport, Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman Sgt. Kirk Perez told the Associated Press.

Shedid was headed to Minnesota and reportedly stated that he collects knives.
