Police have arrested a teenager in the death of George Rawlings, the brother of a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed by police two years ago.
George Rawlings, 21, had just been to the funeral of another teenager who was killed on Halloween and was trying to board a bus at 14th and H Streets NE when he was shot.
Police have charged a 17-year-old in his killing. They did not release further details on the arrest or give information as to a motive, but D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and police officials are scheduled to hold a press conference on the case Monday.
According to the sources close to the family, while Rawlings did not witness 19-year-old Ashton Hunter's shooting Oct. 31, he still felt threatened and had been in hiding.
Police said a suspect in the Hunter case had been arrested and was in jail when Rawlings was killed.
Rawlings was the brother of DeOnté Rawlings, who was shot and killed by off-duty D.C. officers on Sept. 17, 2007. A federal investigation later found the shooting was justified.
