A 16-year-old female student at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, Va., is accused in a police affidavit of creating a Facebook page called "Stonewall hoes" and posting pictures of nine other students at the school with lewd captions beneath each.
Student Monica Escobar said one of her close friends was a victim and is hurt by what was said about her.
"She's hurt that they would say that about her, but she is not going to pay any attention to that because she knows she is not doing anything wrong," Monica said.
Prince William County police executing a search warrant seized the computer the 16-year-old suspect allegedly used to create the malicious Facebook page and filed a misdemeanor charge of harassment by computer against her. The charge carries a possible sentence of one year in prison and fine of up to $2,500.
Prince William County Public Schools has a code of conduct which takes bullying very seriously.
"Cyber bullying and any kind of bullying is not tolerated," said Dr. Doreen Dauer, of Prince William County Public Schools. "It goes against the whole climate of the community."
"It's sad and upsetting," said Maria Wright, the parent of a Stonewall student.
"They should take action, because if it was one of my daughters, I would want action taken right away," said Elva Aviles, another Stonewall parent.
The Facebook page has been taken down. Disciplinary measures could include the expulsion of the 16-year-old suspect.
