All southbound lanes of Interstate 270 have reopened after a garbage truck fire Thursday afternoon.
The closure was located near the interchange with Interstate 370.
The truck's load of trash was dumped onto the roadway.
Firefighters sprayed foam on the fire, and had the bulk of it knocked down shortly before 3:30 p.m. Fire department activity and cleanup continued on the right side for a short time.
The two left lanes reopened first, and the ride side reopened before 4:45 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
