Weather Impacts Roads in Frederick, Montgomery Co.

The Maryland State Police has deactivated the Snow Emergency Plan for Frederick County, effective at 11 a.m. Saturday. However, salt trucks are out for Montgomery County and western Howard County roads.

A release from the duty officer at the Frederick Barrack said weather and road conditions were the reason for the plan activation. Some highways and roads have been designated as snow emergency routes.

With the plan, Maryland law requires all vehicles to have snow tires or be equipped with chains. Studded tires are allowed until Mar. 31. During a snow emergency, no one can park a vehicle on any road designated as a snow emergency route.

In Montgomery County, salt trucks are being called out for roads affected by the winter precipitation. Officials said some roads are closed until they can be treated.

  • Brink Road and Wightman Road – The intersection is closed.
  • Clopper Road between Waring Station Road and Game Preserve Road in Germantown.
  • New Hampshire is closed between Goldmine Road and Haviland Mill Road in the Sandy Spring Area.
  • Bethesda Church Road from Route 27 to the Frederick County line in Damascus.
