Police are expected to announce several arrests in connection with the beating death of Lansdowne resident, William Bennett, this afternoon.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has interviewed more than 20 people within the past 72 hours in relation to the case. The sheriff will be holding a press conference in relation to that information today at 2 p.m.
Investigators have told News4 that the four or five people involved in this case know what happened, but all may not have taken part in the attacks.
Bennett and his wife Cynthia were brutally attacked on March 22 as they exercised along Riverside Parkway near their home in Loudoun County. Bennett died from his injuries. Cynthia Bennett, who has recovered enough from her injuries to talk again, told investigators that more than five people could be responsible for killing her husband.
Bennett was once a contractor for the CIA and was involved in a mistaken bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade in May 1999 during the conflict with Kosovo, according to intelligence sources. His ties to the CIA sparked many theories and rumors about who was responsible for his death and Cynthia Bennett's injuries.
The FBI is also involved in investigating this case.
