The brother of a Democratic National Committee worker, who was killed July 2016, has started a fundraising effort to assist in the investigation of the death.
Seth Rich, 27, was shot and killed around 4 a.m. in northwest Washington about a block from his home. Police said it appeared Rich struggled against his attacker before he was shot twice in the back.
Investigators have said they don't have any evidence suggesting the slaying is connected to the victim's work at the DNC.
Seth Rich’s brother, Aaron Rich, started a GoFundMe page to raise money to hire a professional investigator, raise awareness, and maintain a reward fund. Aaron Rich said the family is seeking new information and leads into his brother’s death, hoping to find closure.
“My family isn’t wealthy, and because we lack the funds or resources to make sure we are doing what we can to aid Washington’s police department, we’ve had to rely on help,” Aaron Rich said. “Experience has taught us that we need help, and we need help that is free from any ulterior motives or with any strings attached.”
The fundraising campaign started March 19 and has a goal of $200,000.
