D.C. firefighters installed smoke detectors inside homes after a deadly fire in Southeast. News4’s Derrick Ward reports.

A woman was killed after the house she was in caught fire early Saturday morning.

Officials said the fire occurred at a home in the 3300 block of 5th Street, Southeast, around 2:50 a.m.

The woman was taken to the hospital. Family members told News4's Derrick Ward that she died.

The area was closed while investigators worked to determine a cause of the fire.
