Wounded veteran Jay Briseno was welcomed to his new Manassas home with much deserved fanfare Monday.
Briseno was injured in 2003 while serving in Iraq. He was shot at point-blank range, left semi-conscious and later deemed quadriplegic.
Though many years have passed, he still requires 24/7 care from parents Joe and Eva -- something that may become a little easier inside his brand-new home.
The home was built with the help of HelpingAHero.org. It's equipped with a therapy bedroom suite with a full lift system, an accessible bathroom and a full shower.
"It's overwhelming," Joe Bresino said. "It's America saying thank you to my son for the service that he did for our country."
About two dozen local Boy Scouts planted 30 trees, 70 shrubs and did all the mulching.
"It makes me feel great," said Boy Scout Bernardo Munoz. "It makes me feel a hundred times better. It was worth the wait and definitely worth the work."
