Police said a man whose body was found along the Potomac River in Dumfries was a homicide victim.
The body of 21-year-old Christian Alexander Sosa Rivas was recovered on Thursday.
Prince William County police said in a statement that an autopsy was conducted on Friday, and the manner of death was determined to be homicide. Police have not detailed how he was killed, but they said he had trauma to the body.
The slaying is the first in Prince William in 2017. Last year, the county had a record-high 22 homicides.
