Police are looking for a suspect they said needlessly killed a pet turtle during a burglary.
A Baltimore County resident returned home to find her home ransacked and her pet turtle, Donatella, dead on the floor.
Michael Kennard Jones, 23, is believed to have killed Donatella by removing her from her aquarium home and impaling her with a knife-sharpener after ransacking a Parkville, Maryland, home.
Jones was accompanied by Calvin Krasheen Fogg, 24, who police arrested on Feb. 17.
Investigators said that the two suspects got into the Parkville, Maryland, residence through an unsecured ground floor window the night of Jan. 20-21. The victim was not at home at the time of the burglary. Police said the pair stole numerous electronic devices and accessories, two TV’s, gift cards, checks and jewelry.
Jones is wanted on charges of first-degree burglary and aggravated cruelty to kill an animal. He is also wanted in connection with a previous home invasion robbery with a gun.
