Prosecutors in Montgomery County say that a local woman exchanged sex with her teenage daughter for forgiveness of a $5,000 debt.
Court documents say that the woman's daughter, now 15 years old, was told by her mother to perform sex acts with 44-year-old Bejarni Rivas. Each sex act was valued at $100.The girl told investigators the abuse occurred on more than one occasion last December.
According to the documents, the girl at one point asked her mother not to leave her alone with Rivas. Her mother's alleged response was "I've done bad things to make you have a good life. Go with him." The abuse ended after the girl told another relative, and the two of them went to police.
Now, the mother is facing 11 charges, according to Ramon Korionoff of the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office, which is prosecuting the case. Rivas is facing 13 charges. The offenses range from second-degree rape to human trafficking, according to Korionoff.
The mother admits only to leaving her child alone with Rivas, who has been released on bail and could not be reached for comment. The origin of the mother's debt to Rivas is not clear.
