After a thoroughly scientific data analysis, Craigslist has dubbed the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro station the most romantic subway stop in the country.
The Orange Line station, already dubbed the most romantic in the D.C. system last year, edged out commuter rail stations from New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Boston, the Hill reported.
"Maybe its the name Vienna," Peter Freedman, a Craigslist researcher told the Hill. "It conjures images of attending the Imperial Ball - swirling gowns, Strauss filling the night air and your whispering, 'save the last waltz for me.'"
While there may be some certain ambiance to the station, evoking Austria seems like a stretch.
Craigslist's "most romantic" compilation was computed by tallying the total number of "missed connection" postings on their site. For those who don't regularly trawl that odd alley way of the internet, "missed connections" is a place where the lovelorn try to reconnect with strangers they run into randomly on the street, or perhaps only glimpsed from afar.
Although the D.C. Metro is home to the most romantic station, Craigslist said the most romantic mass transit system overall was the Chicago "L."
