A figure skating coach who competed in the 1988 Olympics in Calgary is behind bars this morning in Maryland.
Genrich Sretenski, 50, teaches at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel.
New York police are NOT releasing a lot of details, but say the charges stem from an incident in Lake Placid last September. The city is a mecca for figure skating training and competitions.
NBC4 spoke exclusively to Sretenski's wife and his lawyer, who told his that say his students support their coach, and the charges will be fought.
Rene Sandler, his lawyer, said Sretenski is facing charges of forcible touching, 1st degree sexual offense, and 3rd degree sexual offense.
Sretenski, who is Russian, will be held in the Howard County jail until his extradition hearing Thursday.
At the 1988 Winter Olympics, Sretenski and his partner came in fourth. He later performed on television's "Stars on Ice."
