Man Shot on Georgia Avenue NW

PREVIOUS STORY: A man was shot off Georgia Avenue NW Thursday night.

The victim was hit about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Lamont Street NW, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

The man's condition was not immediately known, but homicide detectives were on the scene. 

The street near takeout spot Eddie Leonard Restaurant and the closed restaurant Mothership were littered with police evidence placards late Thursday. A Honda was being examined as potential evidence.

Georgia Avenue was closed in both directions at Lamont Street, about halfway between the Columbia Heights and Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro stations, as of 11 p.m.

Two more men were shot Thursday night a few blocks northeast, in the 600 block of Newton Place NW. Police said one man was shot about 10 p.m. He was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital. A second man who was also shot there was taken to a hospital without the help of paramedics, police said.
