A man protesting U.S. hemp laws locked himself in a cage outside the White House Monday to make his point.
Californian David Bronner set up his display about 8:30 a.m. at 15th and H streets at the north end of the White House near Lafayette Square. He had several hemp plants and hemp products inside the cage with him.
He said he was protesting federal policy that prevents farmers from growing industrial hemp.
Allowing hemp to be grown in the U.S. is part of the farm bill.
Bronner was arrested by D.C. police and charged with blocking passage and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
