The IRS headquarters in D.C. is expected to reopen Monday following a week-long closure due to a transformer fire.
Employees should check the emergency hotline for information before coming in, the IRS said.
A transformer fire in the basement of the building at 1111 Constitution Ave. NW affected the air handling system, an IRS spokesman said. No one was injured.
The fire will not affect anyone's taxes and tax returns are not processed in that building, the IRS said.
