Firefighters have extinguished a blaze on the 13th floor of the Watergate complex Wednesday afternoon after flames came shooting out of a vacant apartment.
D.C. Fire and EMS was called to a residential building in the 700 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW, fire officials said.
The blaze was out shortly before 2 p.m., but several floors have smoky conditions, officials said.
It's not clear whether the building has been evacuated.
A Twitter user named Jocelyn (@jocemiller) saw the flames from The Atlantic's offices in another building at the Watergate complex.
"All of a sudden we look out the window and see a condo has caught fire in Watergate 700," she posted about 1:30 p.m. "DC FD is on the scene now."
No injuries were reported, fire officials said.
