Montgomery County fire officials say a large fire at a Potomac home appears to be accidental in nature.
Firefighters were called to the two-story home on Horseshoe Lane at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the home.
Fire officials believe the fire started in a part of the home that was undergoing renovation. The fire burned for quite a while before a neighbor across the street called 911.
Flames and smoke could be seen coming from one side of the home as Chopper 4 hovered over the scene.
Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the fire department, says the home was unoccupied. The homeowner was hoping to have the renovations complete in time for Thanksgiving.
And it the fire weren't enough, Chopper4 had to make an emergency landing in the neighborhood after firefighters saw smoke from the helicopter.
No injuries were reported.
The home suffered $750,000 in damages.
