A 27-year-old teacher was arrested for allegedly sleeping with a teenaged student.
Montgomery County police said Ashley Jean Campbell, who taught at Montrose Christian School in Rockville, carried on a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male for over a year.
Police said Campbell would drive the student to a park in Montgomery County after school, where the two would have sex in her car.
Investigators said the relationship began in the fall of 2010, and continued until January of this year. The school received an anonymous email about the alleged relationship in February, according to police, which led to the investigation that ended in Campbell's arrest.
Campbell, a resident of Cochranville, Pa., turned herself in to police on Thursday morning, charged with two counts of sex abuse of a minor and two counts of committing a fourth degree sex offense.
Montrose Christian School offers classes from kindergarten to 12th grade. On the school's website, Campbell was listed as a kindergarten teacher.
Dr. Ken Fentress, chancellor at MCS released the following statement on Thursday afternoon:
"Miss Ashley Campbell no longer teaches at Montrose Christian School. You are aware of the charges brought against her by the police. Montrose Christian School administration first learned of the incidents on Friday, February 3, 2012. School officials immediately notified authorities. Montrose Christian is fully cooperating with authorities. No incidents took place on the campus of Montrose Christian School...Montrose Christian is requesting prayer for all involved."
