Man Killed in Head-On Crash in Montgomery County

A man died after a head-on crash in Kensington before dawn Wednesday, Montgomery County Police said.

Two vehicles collided head-on shortly before 5 a.m. in the 10100 block of Cedar Lane near Everett Street, Montgomery County authorities said.

Police identified the man who died as 35-year-old Marcial Matthew Saenz of Bethesda. 

Police say Saenz was driving a 2011 Honda Civic east on Cedar Lane when he crossed the center line and collided with a westbound SUV car near Everett Street. 

Saenz was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died at the hospital. Earlier, police had said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 28-year-old Silver Spring woman, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives are investigating whether alcohol use by Saenz was a possible factor in the crash, police said.

Accident reconstruction investigators were still on the scene at midday. Cedar Lane was closed at Everett Street for the investigation.
