Some Good Samaritans rushed to the aid of a woman who was being attacked by two dogs Saturday morning in northeast Washington.
News 4’s Derrick Ward reports a woman was walking near the old Hechinger Mall when the dogs started to attack her. People who witnessed the incident intervened – one man picked up a brick and threw it at the dogs while another tried to force the dogs away with his cane.
Both men who tried to help were also bitten.
Police officers arrived at the 5100 block of Bladensburg Road and one officer shot at the dogs twice. The dogs ran, but were quickly recovered and taken away by the Humane Society.
Those hurt in the dog attack are expected to survive their injuries. Police are investigating the incident and said the owner of the dogs will likely face charges.
