Another Shooting Involving Transgender Victim

D.C. police are currently investigating a second shooting involving a transgender victim in two weeks.

The incident occurred shortly before 3:00am Sunday, July 31, 2011 in the 6200 block of Dix Street NE. The suspect approached the victim on foot asking for change. Before the victim could respond, the shooter pulled a semi-automatic handgun and shot at the victim. The victim was not struck.

In an earlier incident in July,  less than two weeks after the murder of Myles "Lashay" McLean who was killed on the 6100 block of Dix Street NE.

Due to the similarities of both incidents, these cases are being investigated as a potential emerging pattern.
