The D.C. Department of Transportation and Waze -- an app-based navigation tool -- have formed a partnership.
DDOT will send real-time traffic and construction information through the app.
"Armed with reliable information from DDOT and the ability to provide their own information, the driving and riding public can help the transportation system in the District operate more efficiently," DDOT Acting Director Leif Dormsjo said.
The partnership spurred from the Waze Connected Citizens program launched last October; D.C. is one of more than 20 cities that has connected with Waze.
