More than 100 firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at a Silver Spring apartment building Thursday morning, where several people had to be helped out of the building.
The fire was reported at 11:20 a.m. at the Park Wayne Apartments at 11 Manchester Place. Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from an apartment on the top floor of the three-story building.
Firefighters helped several people escape the building and brought the fire under control quickly.
Residents of 13 apartments -- more than 25 people -- were displaced, but no one was injured.
The fire started in a third-floor apartment bedroom and appears to be accidental, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
