1 Dead After Head-On Crash in Montgomery Co.

One person has died after a head-on crash in rural Montgomery County Tuesday night that injured five other people and left a car on its side.

Authorities say that shortly before 7 p.m., the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet S10 Trailblazer crossed the center line of Darnestown Road near the intersection with Whites Ferry Road, slamming into a 2008 Honda Accord.

The Trailblazer then left the roadway and hit a tree. 

Two people were ejected from the vehicle, including 23-year-old Tiffany Nicole Bein of Clarksburg. Bein was rushed to Suburban Hospital, where she died, Montgomery County Police said.

A 23-year-old Germantown man was was also ejected. He is in critical condition at the Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Six EMS units and two helicopters were sent to the scene.

The driver of the Trailblazer, 26-year-old Torray James Jr. of Baltimore, was not ejected, police said. He was taken to Suburban Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda and her two passengers were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Authorities said they don't yet know why the Trailblazer crossed the center line.

Alcohol is a possible contributing factor in the crash, they said.

Darnestown Road and White's Ferry Road were closed for hours near the scene of the crash.
