A Muslim rights group says a U.S. teenager from Alexandria, Va., is being held in Kuwait.
Gulet Mohamed, 19, was detained last month after trying to renew his visa at a Kuwaiti airport.
An attorney for the Council on American-Islamic Relations said Sunday that Mohamed's brother bought him a plane ticket home at the request of a Kuwaiti deportation official, but then could not board the plane because his name is on a “no fly” list.
CAIR attorney Gadeir Abbas said the group plans to file a federal court challenge claiming the United States is wrongly blocking the return of a U.S. citizen.
