The Washington Dulles International Airport is among the most expensive airports in the nation for passengers, according to a new report.
The Federal Bureau of Transportation said the average domestic flight out of Dulles last year cost $419.48 including taxes and fees.
That makes it the ninth most expensive airport in the nation.
The national average is $339.71.
Reagan National Airport ranks 25th and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport ranks 84th.
The price is determined by individual airlines, not the airport, so airports that serve as a hub are often greatly impacted by the prices of one specific carrier.
Dulles is a hub for United Airlines. BWI Thurgood Marshall is a hub for Southwest Airlines.

Newark, N.J.'s Liberty Airport is the most expensive in the nation. Atlantic City's airport is least expensive of the top 100.
Prices are up an average $33 over a year earlier.
Travel expert Terry Trippler tells the Washington Examiner that prices had been lower in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks because more seats were available.
"The airlines were constantly putting something on sale simply because fewer people were traveling," Trippler said. Now prices are up because fewer seats are available.
Still, airline prices are below their peak in 2008. Trippler expects fares to hold steady for the foreseeable future.
