Doug Hutchinson, the 51 year-old character actor, and Courtney Stodden, his 17 year-old possible singer, perhaps actress wife, are making the inevitable next move in desperate fame-seeking. They are getting a reality TV show.
Their union, which took place under the veil of parental consent when Stodden was 16, made headlines worldwide in much the same way as that "Toddlers and Tiaras" mom who dressed her daughter up as a prostitute did. People were equal parts fascinated and repulsed. And if anything defines "fascinated/repulsed," it's reality TV.
Roy Bank, president of Merv Griffin Entertainment, signed the controversial couple to the as-yet-untitled show. Courtney Stodden's mom-ager, Krista, teased some of the show details.
"They are going to be very, very open about their lives," says Stodden. "They want everybody to see their life. Nothing is off limits."
Seeing as people have already been having a field day with Courtney's bizarre Twitter feed (which reads like a teenager's diary rewritten by a failed romance novelist) and her rather, um, animated facial ticks already, we can only imagine what gems the show will provide.
Once again, there is no title and no air date and no network as of yet, but stay tuned.
