Washington, D.C. is among four finalists for a possible United States bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The U.S Olympic Committee officially announced Washington, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco as potential hosts. Los Angeles is the only city of the four that has previously hosted, having done so in 1932 and 1984.
Now the USOC will have to decide if it will put forth one of the aforementioned cities to host the 2024 Games. The last two American candidates both finished in fourth place; New York for the 2012 Olympics and Chicago for the 2016 Olympics that went to Rio de Janeiro.
The United States last hosted the Summer Games in Atlanta in 1996. The International Olympic Committee will begin accepting bids next year with the decision being made in 2017.
