The Capitals held a "Fan Appreciation Special Event" Thursday evening at Verizon Center to welcome them back into the fold after a 119-day lockout. There was free food aplenty and the Caps skated on their home ice for the first time in over eight months.
And then Troy Brouwer did this.
If that isn't the best way to start the season, I don't know what is.
Washington opens Saturday against Tampa Bay.
